Fly Agaric

I found this mushroom lying around broadfield park
so i picked it and let it wilt a little and started my process of studying and developing art from it.

I started of using a willow stick and ink to try
and convy the mushrooms contrast and to study the shape
and texture of the mushroom. Afterwards i used a sponge to
dab ink very lighty in places to shade in the darker areas.I like the black background on this one as it makes the mushroom stand out

 This was just a quick study of colour, a slight wash with a sponge
of coloured ink and then drawn over using wax crayons

 Here i have taped 6 pieces of a2 white catridges paper to
try and do something on a larger scale.
After taping the thing together i started to draw my mushroom
with charcoal gradually.

 what a pain this was.. so after a heck of thinking i
decided that i would pva glue ripped up black bin bags onto
my work, leaving about a inch of white space from the shroom

 waiting for the glue too dry.... wooo

 after hours of pva glueing bin bags onto my work
i had finished.  yayyy . the result was lovely, the texture that u
can achieve from this is amazing. when ur right next it, its
almost like melted plastic.

 So i pinned it up, all finished

first i put down a splodges and then tried defining
a mushroom around the colours with drawing ink

here is a experiment were i made a couple of really
large stencils and made a really large mushroom by
spraying ink layer by layer.

Ink spray back ground and then painted my mushroom over it
with more ink.

even though the picture doesnt show it i collaged the white
area left with coloured plastic bags

MY favourite of all this project
"MR MUSHROOM"

messing around as usuall, i got bored with every other
experiment i was doing so i cut up loads of pictures out of magazines and print outs i had of mushrooms and made some outrageous pictures :)... the diluted ink background on here is lovely too. wet on wet (wet the paper before the ink goes on)

Some massive background of just wet on wet ink
yellow, pink and orange nice and strong. then a diluted blue
just to get rid of any wanted white space.

I cut out that picture from before and stuck it rete on the background i had just made :)
